The inevitable remix album for Karie's KKKKK, and inevitably it's a mixed bag depending on who's doing the restructuring.
A curious amount of artists here choose to downplay Karie's vocals or eliminate them entirely (Yasuharu Konishi's "One Thousand 20th Century Chairs" puts the song through his usual formula of high-speed samples, crashing pianos, and spiraling drum rolls, similar to his remix for Cornelius's FM CD).
Others add little to such already slight numbers, such as "Harmony Korine" or "Kahimi au Telephone," except to change the backing instruments.
In fact, very few achieve what Buffalo Daughter does: on their remix of "Orly Narita," they bring out the inherent tunefulness of the song (from an original that was undermined for Karie's own singing) by layering on vocals, and hammering home the chord sequence through a series of dynamic synth lines and drum samples.
Ultimately, quite disappointing considering the artists involved.
