ACROSS TWO OCEANS is cinematic in its reach and filled with great Irish romanticism.
With the exception of the three piano reprises, which are subtle and reflective, this album bursts with lush orchestrations and contagious melodies.
These melodies ascend into the clouds, reaching higher and higher altitudes until they burst through the silver lining all together.
Janis' music is certainly not understated.
Instead, it's triumphant, ebullient, and at times proud.
The entire CD reads like a gushy love theme from a romantic drama.
Janis' compositions actually sound quite similar to James Horner's epic film score from the movie TITANIC.
Like Horner's score, Irish whistles soar high above the passionate strings, while the timpani and percussion punctuate each swelling crescendo.
In general, each track on ACROSS TWO OCEANS flows with rich, legato harmonies and emotive orchestral colors. This album overflows with great joy and elation.
Standout tracks include the powerful, "Beneath the Distance" and the equaling gripping "To a Waiting Heart.".
