The 2015 sci-fi thriller Air, about a post-nuclear future with no breathable air, carries an atmospheric synthesizer-based original score by composer and songwriter Edo Van Breemen (Afflicted, Fractured Land), also singer and keyboardist for the jazz-influenced indie rock band Brasstronaut.
A combination of meandering keyboard melodies and pulsing, sustained tones mark much of the score, which provides an edgy backdrop largely with distorted timbres and dissonance.
The bubbly "Sleep Lab" adds shimmering wind chime-like sounds and wind effects to unsteady synth colors, while more actively intense musical moments include the alarming, rising pitch bend of "Firetank" and ominous, extreme high and low pitches of "Sleeptank Death.".
