To the surprise of probably no one, this LP, which features Haino with his band Fushitsusha, was co-produced by jazz provocateur and noise maven John Zorn.
Not as out-there as Haino's solo records, this is a reserved outing that blends repetitive chords with an arrhythmic rhythm section.
At its slackest, Haino and band sound as if they're lost and are noodling around trying to find a way out; more often, however, they successfully experiment with subtle repetition in what turn out to be almost mantra-like improvised passages.
