So much happened between Alabama's arrival on the scene and the country boom of the early '90s that by the time the band released American Pride, they were among the genre's aging veterans.
As such it was a little late to expect big surprises.
So everything that Alabama's known for is here: full-group harmonies, small-town Southern virtues and common-sense patriotism.
The group turned "I'm in a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)" into a big hit, but it's no surprise the best songs are about folks who settled in for the long haul, happily married parents ("Between the Two of Them"), and Richard Petty ("Richard Petty's Fans").
