Avant session cellist Alison Chesley has recorded two previous albums under the Helen Money moniker (a vehicle for her sophisticated compositions for solo cello), and her third outing, Arriving Angels, finds her melding classical composition and doomy metal influences.
The record was recorded by Steve Albini at his legendary Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, resulting in more aggressive sounds than usually made by the standard classically trained cello player.
Chesley is backed on four of the tracks by Neurosis drummer Jason Roeder, adding more muscle to the already septic compositions.
