Half of this LP consists of the odd but famous Slim Gaillard session in which the guitarist/personality was joined by altoist Charlie Parker and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie for four songs (highlighted by the humorous "Slim's Jam").
The flip side contains more essential music, the appearance by Diz and Bird at Carnegie Hall on Sept.
29, 1947.
These renditions of "A Night in Tunisia," "Dizzy Atmosphere," "Groovin' High" and "Ko Ko" (despite the so-so recording quality) are brilliant but Parker's solo on "Confirmation" really takes honors.
