Altoist Paquito D'Rivera's first American recording after defecting from Cuba is an often-jubilant affair.
D'Rivera, who also plays some soprano and flute on this album, is heard in groups ranging from a duet with pianist Jorge Dalto to a septet.
The impressive lineup also includes pianist Hilton Ruiz, bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Ignacio Berroa, among others.
The music is high-quality modern bebop with a strong dose of Latin rhythms -- a fine example of D'Rivera's talents.
