A mixtape with some exceptional artwork, Campaign was released less than a year after Free TC, just ahead of the 2016 U.S.
presidential election.
The intro features political talk -- including a call to vote and love one another -- but it quickly reverts to a secondary batch of the conceited and filth-caked hedonism for which Tyrone Griffin is known.
Compared to the proper album that preceded it, much of this content resembles adequate leftovers.
The exceptions include the hard to resist "$" (Griffin's personal self-love anthem), the title track (another Future collaboration), and the bumping "Zaddy." Most powerful is "No Justice," a somber ballad in which Griffin is joined by still-locked-up brother Big TC: "I watch you gun my people down, plus we killin' off each other." Placed between tracks in which Griffin proclaims "It's my pussy" and "I put that pussy in a coffin," it certainly sticks out.
