Although it's now widely perceived as a flop, in truth Donna Summer made the Top 40 with this album, and the song "There Goes My Baby" reached the Top 30 on both the R&B and pop charts, while "Supernatural Love" also made both surveys.
But it wasn't as lofty a triumph as Summer had routinely enjoyed, and there were danger signs lurking in her relationship with Geffen.
Still, as her 1980s output goes, this was far superior to the reviews it received and the reputation it carries.
