Following the success of their movement into collaborative work (the previous two albums, Astromantic and Beat Space Nine, were built primarily as sets of collaborations with various vocalists), Cosmicolor marked the last studio album from m-flo before their movement into various side projects.
The album continued to combine the talents of the duo with various vocalists, many of whom had appeared on previous albums.
Reinforcing the full circle of the collaborative series, the album includes a collaboration with songstress Crystal Kay, who originally started the M-flo Loves series of recordings.
The album sold well, buoyed by the power of their previous works and the new set of songs.
