Timo Tolkki introduces the concept of Stratovarius very well on their debut, Fright Night.
Their somehow idiosyncratic and innovative sound is very fresh for their genre, but the whole album falls apart because there isn't much variety.
At this point, Stratovarius seems to be solely Tolkki's thing, as the rest of the band doesn't play so well together; most likely Tolkki is singing only because no one else was found to sing.
However, people who find '80s heavy rock attractive will like Stratovarius' debut, and Fright Night is surely an important part of Stratovarius' discography.
