This Australian duo calls its music "electronic softrock" with traces of "dreamwave" and "chillwave" -- but it may be more helpful to label Gypsy & the Cat's debut album, Gilgamesh, as a lush pop record with an '80s-influenced production, full of synth sounds and soft reverb.
The record inspired comparisons with everybody from Fleetwood Mac to Simon & Garfunkel to Empire of the Sun and Real Life.
It landed the band a spot as an opening act on Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite tour and yielded the hit single "Jona Vark.".
