The music on this CD is halfway between jazz and R&B.

There are some good solo moments from altoist Ray Manzerolle and the Wes Montgomery-influenced guitarist Perry Hughes although the empahsis is on the ensembles and the soulful melodies.

One particularly dumb rap aside, the performances are reasonably enjoyable if derivative.
