Swedish singer-songwriter Anna Ternheim returned in 2008 with her third full-length, HALFWAY TO FIVEPOINTS, a well-crafted set of wintry folk and shimmering atmospheric pop, in a vein not unlike Beth Orton.
Ternheim's hushed, confident vocals crest above blankets of subtle guitar and electronics on tracks such as "Bridges" and "Lover's Dream." Elsewhere, Ternheim's singing stands out against more stark, traditionally folk backdrops as on the title track and a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Little Lies." Though there's a certain somnambulant ease with which Ternheim approaches these songs, she wrings each one of all its hidden emotion and beauty.
