The sophomore full-length album from MAX, 2016's Hell's Kitchen Angel, is an exuberant, hook-filled set of pop anthems that make the most of the singer's resonant, soulful vocals.
Signed to Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump's DCD2 label, MAX often sounds like an impossible mash-up of his label owners' band combined with the dance-oriented R&B of Justin Timberlake.
Stump even contributed the song "10 Victoria's Secret Models." Similarly, cuts like "Basement Party," "Wrong," and "Holla," grab your attention with MAX's highly resonant, falsetto-tinged style, framed by pulsing basslines and trap beats.
It's a sound that helped land him the slow-burn hit "Lights Down Low," which peaked at number 20 in 2018.
Also featured on the album are guest spots by Hoodie Allen, Lil Uzi Vert, and Sirah.
