The success of the first volume of this compilation (it occupied the top of the charts on its release) prompted a second installment a year later.
These three new CDs include everything not present on the first volume.
Both compilations put together amount for the entire De André output, but the original albums are split into several discs.
This is extremely annoying, for De André was quintessentially an album artist.
While the complete De André discography is highly recommended, this is simply not the right way to listen to it.
Casual listeners are better served with a single-disc compilation, while fans should get the original albums and hear these songs in their proper sequence.
