On his fifth album, In the Running, Howard Jones backs away from his trademark bouncy synth-pop in an attempt to secure a position in the adult-contemporary market.
While his graceful keyboard playing is still impressive, he hasn't written a set of songs that supports his talent.
Most of the record lacks strong hooks and melodies, making it nothing more than a pleasant, but bland and unmemorable, album.
