Urban boy band JLS don't appear to have paused for breath since finishing runner-up to Alexandra Burke in the 2008 X Factor final, as evident with the release of their third album in as many years, Jukebox.
Whether it's a genuine desire to release as much new music as possible or a concerted effort to ensure that the likes of One Direction and the Wanted don't steal their fan base, it's clear from these 12 tracks that they could do with a break, as despite their prolific work rate, there appears to be little evidence of any progression.
"3D" and "Take You Down" stick to the same tired-sounding urban synth pop formula that dominated 2010's lackluster Outta This World, the bouncy vocal house of "Do You Feel What I Feel" continues their penchant for bizarre samples (Bing Crosby's "Do You Hear What I Hear") following their previous brush with The Sound of Music, while, at three years into their career, surely JLS should be providing a bit more substance than the dire "fun in the club" R&B of "So Many Girls." Elsewhere, it seems like they have just scanned the latest digital charts and decided to make their own watered-down versions.
There's Bruno Mars-esque R&B ("Take a Chance on Me"), RedOne-produced electro-pop ("She Makes Me Wanna"), and of course the obligatory dramatic Ryan Tedder-style ballad ("Killed by Love").
With their younger counterparts breathing new life into the boy band market, JLS are going to have to start raising their game to compete, but the fact that you know exactly what Jukebox is going to sound like before you hear it means it remains to be seen whether they are capable of doing so.
