Listen to the Mockingbird features eight field recordings of the title bird, as well as feathered friends like the woodpecker, goldfinch, robin, cactus wren, rose-breasted grosbeak, and the common crow.
Joining them at various points are bullfrogs, the tufted titmouse, quail, and the laughing gull.
Dan Gibson's microphones also catch the wind in the trees, some gently lapping water, and particularly on "Mockingbird With Acorn Woodpecker," a spectacular echo that gives these recordings valuable depth.
There is no accompanying music anywhere on Listen to the Mockingbird.
