This double-LP was a major disappointment when it came out in 1979 due to the consistently crummy recording quality.
The playing is actually somewhat historic, a jam session featuring the ill-fated Clifford Brown, tenorman Sonny Rollins (who was playing with Brownie for the first time), drummer Max Roach and a few other musicians (Nicky Hill on tenor, pianist Billy Wallace, guitarist Leo Blevins and bassist George Morrow).
But many of these lengthy tunes ("I'll Remember April" is over 30 minutes long) sound like little more than trumpet-drums duets due to the weird balance, making most of the music quite unlistenable.
