California-born yogi and guru Bhagavan Das (née Kermit Michael Riggs) has been performing music since the early ‘70s.
Though much of his musical output consists of chanted bhajans and kirtans, he has been known to make the occasional foray into blues, folk and, in the case of 2000’s Mike D-produced NOW, Indian hip-hop fusion.
LOVE SONGS TO THE DARK LORD, however, is a relatively traditional effort that features massed chants, tabla rhythms, and overall ecstatic performances from the one Bhagavan Das.
