Prior to the release of her EP MIND RAFT, Angel Deradoorian was best known for the unearthly and beautiful harmonies she contributed to the Dirty Projectors’ spectacular RISE ABOVE.
On MIND RAFT, her solo debut, Deradoorian maintains some of the experimental textural edge of the Projectors, but with more of a focus on melody and sensual mood.
The spare siren song of “High Road,” a pulsing electronic wash in which Deradoorian’s lovely voice drifts over a pool of layered harmonies, is a case in point.
