A very appropriate collection, Murder in My Heart collects the best of Moby Grape's work after their first album.
Although that debut (Moby Grape) is often considered their finest work, that line of thought tends to overlook many fine tracks that the group cut between 1968 and 1970.
Possibly the greatest Moby Grape recording ever, "Seeing" is rightfully given an airing here.
The dynamics, the pain, and the rock-solid quality all add up to a classic performance that easily stands up to the best work of other, better known bands.
Peter Lewis' "He" and "I Am Not Willing" are also excellent tracks, loaded with depth, pathos, and nuances.
The bottom line here is that Moby Grape was not a one-shot wonder; beneath all of the psychodrama, lawsuits, and madness (drug induced and otherwise), lies the heart of one of the finest rock bands of the1960s.
The proof is here, in the grooves.
