Obscene, infectious, and obnoxious electro-pop duo 3OH!3 have gotten older on their 2016 album, Night Sports, and there's no better example than the creepy lyrics in "7-11." "She said she heard of me, from that album Want/She used to bump it in the Target parking lot" it goes, referencing their 2008 debut with the hit single "Don't Trust Me on It," then the song drops "If her and her friends get together, maybe I can watch" before referencing Lord of the Flies.
It makes one wonder if this duo has always been Redfoo and Kinko the Clown come together under assumed names, but when highlight "Basmf" unleashes "dropping shit just like colostomy" and "this shit is crunchy, like socks and Birkenstocks to me," the latter is too clever to deny.
Then there's "My Dick," which gloriously mixes trap, Robin S.-styled disco, and DJ Godfather's porno version of ghetto-tech in an ode to every man's member, but the biggest surprise arrives with the R&B-influenced tracks, because "Mad at You" and "Freak Your Mind" are just one swear word or sex joke short of landing on a Chris Brown album.
The most confusing bit is how "Give Me Something to Remember" nominates itself for Prom Song 2016 with all the glory and pomp of the indie group Fun., but maybe the number is here to give teens a track to quickly jump to once mom or dad come in the room.
Otherwise, it's the usual cheap thrills, filth, and sick -- but sometimes slick -- jokes, so enjoy, and don't dare catch yourself in the mirror while doing it.
