Separated by a decade on the calendar yet forever linked as reigning kings of boy bands, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys joined forces in 2011 for a co-headlining tour, releasing the compilation NKOTBSB as support and promotion.
It’s a pretty straightforward affair: each group is represented by their five biggest hits, the sequencing alternates one NKOTB song with one BSB track, there are two new joint efforts (the wannabe OneRepublic ballad “All in My Head” and the ludicrously titled, not-bad-at-all “Don’t Turn Out the Lights (D.T.O.T.L.)”), and a mash-up megamix of both bands.
Each group has some big hits missing, but you’d need a Billboard chart book to ferret out which ones are absent: this has everything the average fan could want and is arguably more fun than any individual hits collection by either band.
