Over the last few years,Glen Washington has tried his best to break into the tight field of lovers rock singers.
His debut, Get Next to Me, revealed a pleasant, easygoing style with sparks of soul.
My Number 1 Girl, his sophomore offering, shows how he has expanded his repertoire to include roots and gospel, in addition to lovers rock.
All of his attempts are not successful, such as the tepid "Take the Name of Jesus," which lacks the expected gospel spirit, but he redeems himself with catchy tunes such as "Shana Na Na" and the groovin' "How Did You Know.".
