Peculiar World suffers from a lack of a clear-cut identity -- on their debut, Litany is all over the map, lurching from sweet melodic pop to blistering hardcore; touches of classical music even creep into the mix, and although the group is certainly adept at playing in a variety of styles, none are delivered with enough conviction to suggest a clear path for the future.
Taken on their own terms, tracks like "By Myself," "Bad Faith" and "When You Gonna Stop" are engaging, but as a whole the album is less than the sum of its parts.
