The fifth studio album from New Orleans' MUTEMATH, 2017's Play Dead features more of the experimental electro-indie outfit's ambitious, arty rock.
Rife with themes of life, death, and rebirth, the album finds lead singer Paul Meany ruminating on the personal and creative growth the band has undergone over the past five years, and especially since the release of 2015's Vitals.
Notably, longtime drummer/producer Darren King announced he was leaving the band after recording Play Dead.
The album therefore represents the end of the Meany/King era for MUTEMATH, and a symbolic new beginning as the band embarks on a nationwide tour in the wake of its release.
Included on Play Dead is the lead single "Hit Parade.".
