Russell spent his formative years learning guitar from his father on the small Spanish island of Menorca, and his love and comfort with the cultural stylings of the Spanish guitar shine brightly on this collection.
His interpretations of these moody and moving works by composers Joaquin Malats, Francisco Tárrega, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albénez, and Antonio Ruiz-Pipó are performed cleanly and expertly, with the warmth and passion of a seasoned flamenco master.
