The Spanish MC from Barcelona caused a stir with his demos on the Internet, was promptly signed by Universal, released a controversial 2008 first album that found commercial success but was derided by other hip-hop artists, and was ultimately dropped by his label after his 2009 sophomore effort failed to impress.
Signed to PIAS Spain, Porta tries to reignite his career on 2012's eloquently titled Reset, and even proceeds to give his own scathing account of the Universal fiasco on "Carta de Libertad." The album contains 17 tracks, and features appearances by DJs Soma, Isusko, Chus, Gema, and DJ Joaking, all of whom also join some 20 more guest DJs for the grand finale, "No Tienes Hueco." Musically, Reset recalls Porta's first demos, with a certain sameness of beats alleviated by his provocative lyrics on topics that try to eschew the commonalities of Spanish hip-hop.
