Sony’s Setlist series isn’t a standard budget-line compilation: these discs bypass hits in favor of live tracks cut throughout the years, mixing up highlights from classic live albums with a handful of rarities, including some unreleased cuts.
In the case of Jefferson Airplane’s entry, it’s culled from several sources -- cuts from 1969’s Bless Its Pointed Little Head and 1973’s Thirty Seconds Over Winterland rub shoulders with the archival releases of Jefferson Airplane Loves You and Sweeping Up the Spotlight -- and includes two previously unreleased cuts recorded at the Fillmore in San Francisco: “White Rabbit” from 1966, “It’s No Secret” from 1967.
Every cut here derives from 1966-1973, so it winds up being an excellent live sampler of the band at their peak.
