Determined to get their So Nice to Meet You EP to number one, Punchline took part in a couple of publicity stunts.
Bassist Chris Fafalios announced on Facebook that he would part ways with the band if its upcoming EP didn't make it to number one on digital charts.
Then, vocalist Steve Soboslai guested on an episode of Howie Mandel's reality-based TV show Mobbed, in which he tried to court a longtime crush by singing her a cover of Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me." Viewers bit.
The self-promotion paid off, and So Nice to Meet You reached number one on the iTunes Rock Chart two days after the episode aired, on January 4, 2012.
Along with the version of "I Want You to Want Me" featured in the show, the EP included four other songs, all performed in a more glossy, family-friendly brand of punk-pop than during the band's days with Fueled by Ramen.
