Florida-based emo-pop band We the Kings struck out on their own for their fourth studio album; after parting ways with S-Curve Records, the group opted to record their next project without backing from a label.
When We the Kings launched a campaign to raise the $35,000 recording budget through crowd-funding, their fans responded to the tune of $149,000.
The finished album, Somewhere Somehow, is a polished, heartfelt set of contemporary pop that ranks with their most accessible work to date, and shows that We the Kings didn't need a handful of advisors to make the sort of music that would please themselves and their fans.
