IAMDYNAMITE's 2012 debut full-length, SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC features the group's high-energy garage- and punk-influenced melodic rock.
Showcasing the talents of guitarist/vocalist Christopher Martin and drummer/vocalist Chris Phillips, SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC was produced by Blue October bassist Matt Noveskey and reveals a less predictably lo-fi, more polished glitter rock sound.
In that sense, the album fall somewhere in-between the blues-oriented bombast of the White Stripes and the rambunctious, melodic garage-punk of Sweden's the Hives.
Further, lead singer Martin has a ringing, nasal yawp that brings to mind Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and fits perfectly with these buzzy, high-energy, guitar-driven tunes.
It also doesn't hurt that Phillips chimes in on occasion with some bell-toned vocal harmonies, as on the furiously propulsive "Stereo." To these ends, we get the driving lead-off cut, "Where Will We Go," the anthemic "Hi Lo," and the chugging, power chord-driven "Hey Girl." Ultimately, on SUPERMEGAFANTASTIC, IAMDYNAMITE have a knack for catchy, rhythmically infectious punk-pop and garage rock anthems that grab your attention with an all-caps energy that's hard to turn away from.
