Polish death metal heavyweights Behemoth added more ballast to their already formidable and lengthy discography with 2007's APOSTASY.
Lead singer Negral's gruff vocals, which sound like they're erupting from the earth's molten core, lend APOSTASY's songs their ominous thrill, but the band's frenetic, crushing attack is the bedrock.
The occasional appearance of unique instrumentation, choir chants and soprano leads, and delicate piano passages help keep the sonic landscape varied and intriguing.
