If you are one of those people who is attracted to the wildly sophisticated charts and atmospheres created by the legendary Mystic Moods Orchestra in the first place, or a crate digger who has been getting her hands dirty rummaging under shelf bins in the Easy Listening sections of used record stores, what's not to like about a second volume of the group's perceived best offerings? At the very least, it's one of their storied items -- like its predecessors -- offering a solid, click-and-pop-free deep atmospheric environment for close to an hour without having to break the reverie and flip sides.
Seriously.
For those who have never experienced the Mystic Moods, you have to hear it to believe it.
This is not some deeply schmaltzy, string-laden pablum that is so sweet it's irritating.
It's sweet sometimes, sure, but it's anything but pablum.
The arrangements, space, recording quality and performances are truly sophisticated, utterly enjoyably, and deeply atmospheric -- even when individual selections are taken out of their conceptually driven album origins.
For this price, if you're a serious music fan open to having your head expanded a bit, scope it out and get converted.
'Nuff said.
