The Clancy Brothers' influence on folk music is enormous.
Not only did they spearhead a 1950s revival in all things Irish, but they also impacted American folk music, most notably the early work of singer/songwriter Bob Dylan.
In general, The Clancy Brothers stirred Irish national fervor overseas, and all this may be their greatest achievement.
Their bawdy, almost theatrical approach to Irish folk tunes has become legendary in the U.S.
