Stacey Pullen continues in the Detroit techno tradition of preferring Ks to Cs (Plastikman, anyone?).

His music is also greatly indebted to the Detroit style, having been tutored in the art of producing tracks by one Derrick May.

So while Pullen has yet to release something truly groundbreaking, that doesn't mean his tracks are any less stellar.

This compilation of Pullen's work under the Kosmic Messenger guise is dancefloor artillery of the highest caliber.

Almost every Detroit techno fan has moved to "Memories of You" and "Freeky Deeky," while "Death March" is an absolute staple of the home techno mix.

Pullen densely layers his, filling it with clamoring hi-hats and tribal conga, but he is also a master of making his melodies.

One listen to the intro of "Eye to Eye," and it is forever ingrained into the listener's mind.

The low end also has a notable bit of bounce, more than many of Pullen's contemporaries.

If you can't get down with this, maybe you really are better off listening to trance.
