John Mayer decided to take a low-key route for promoting his 2012 album Born & Raised -- just a handful of radio performances, four of which are featured on this five-song EP, with the album outtake "Shadow Days" acting as a teaser for fans who want a bit more than the nice, spare acoustic readings of tunes from the album itself.
"Shadow Days" is solid and enjoyable, as is the EP as a whole; it's not revelatory but sturdy and simple, it's an effective showcase for the rural charms of Mayer's new songs.
