Continuing the momentum of his unpredictable changes in electronic styles and pseudonyms, Si Begg further challenges himself with S.I.
Futures.
The Mission Statement is a carefully constructed mix of disco, hip-hop, ambient, and funky breaks, all held together by Begg's uniform production.
Drawing from such a diverse spectrum could make this kind of record confusing, but Begg has the experience to make it work.
Such varying moments include the Aspects dropping in to rap on "All Terrain Aspects" and a sampled dance lesson spliced with disco rhythms on "Freestyle Disco." "We Are Not a Rock Band," the first single from the album (which is strangely out of place as the last track), pays obvious homage to Kraftwerk, taking on vocoder and synth blips.
With this kind of methodology, it seems that Begg won't rest until every nook and cranny of music is explored.
