The most successful of all instrumental combos helped their cause in no small measure by cutting a slew of trendy albums like this one.
As with many pop acts during the '60s, the Ventures covered the obligatory Beatles tune along with many other hits from the era.
Knock Me Out finds the surf music legends tackling mid-'60s classics like the Zombies' "She's Not There," the Everly Brothers' "Gone, Gone, Gone," and Lennon and McCartney's "I Feel Fine." As expected, the Ventures' reverb-drenched sound lends itself nicely to the album's paisley mod mix.
Other highlights include four originals by the band and a take on Jackie DeShannon's "When You Walk Into the Room.".
