It took Netflix long enough, but over a month after the show's premiere, The Witcher (Music from the Netflix Original Series) finally arrived to the delight of fans of the time-bending fantasy-action series.
This exhaustive collection clocks in at over 50 tracks composed by Giona Ostinelli and Sonya Belousova, who crafted a rousing score that blends medieval folk sounds, inspiration from non-European traditions, some contemporary pop and metal flair, and an epic orchestral sweep that echoed Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.
The album also features appearances by Rodion Belousov (oboe, whistle), violinist Lindsay Deutsch, gruff-voiced vocalist Declan de Barra, and more.
One vocalist gets the honor of singing the set's highlight, the swelling epic "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" performed by Joey Batey (as the bard Jaskier).
After the show's premiere in December 2019, the song became a viral hit, resulting in a bevy of Internet memes and hour-looped videos on video streaming sites.
"Toss a Coin" will be the gateway for many, and fortunately so, as there is plenty of other material to love on this collection.
