Following in the footsteps of groups like Aqua and Rednex, Cartoons DK offers a playful, childlike twist on dance pop.
But with their debut album, Toontastic!, the Danish band takes this concept a step farther, recasting children's songs and classic novelty tunes as club anthems with a bit of doo wop flair.
Their versions of "Witch Doctor," "DooDah," and "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" are certainly quirky enough, but for all their goofiness, aren't as distinctive as Aqua's "Barbie Girl" or Rednex's "Cotton Eye Joe." Still, bouncy, energetic songs like "Mama Loo" "Aisy Waisy," and "Eany Meany" should appeal to young kids looking for a soundtrack to their sugar highs.
