Perhaps there is nothing so immediately sensual, seductive, and timelessly traditional as Flamenco guitar, and "Nuevo Flamenco" guitarist Armik showcases this to a finely tuned "t" on a collection of 11 compositions.
By fusing traditional Spanish Flamenco style with Greek and Middle Eastern flavors, Armik forges work that straddles the New Age and jazz genres while remaining all the time true to its Spanish roots.
.
On "Timeless," bass, percussion, violins, and other back-up create a rich weave over which Armik's guitar dances while "Magico" sizzles with an irresistible maraca- and drum-propelled rhythm.
Some Santana-like electric guitar kicks off the enchanting "Passion" while "Moonrise" salsas its way into jazz dance club territory with an array of steamy horns providing call and response to Armik's tightly wound arpeggios.
Whether or not one is lucky enough to be hearing this on a sun-dappled terrace, the blood will still likely be stirred towards dance and romance.
Armik's soul seems to be itself tuned to the warm sound of the classical guitar, and this album shows him to be an artist of both incredible discipline and wild passion.
