Rosemary Clooney's third Concord album (which was originally titled Here's to My Lady) is one of her best.
Clooney sings ten songs associated with Billie Holiday, and she is in prime form on such numbers as "I Cover the Waterfront," "Mean to Me," "Comes Love," and a swinging "Them There Eyes." The backup group is quite noteworthy, too, with tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, cornetist Warren Vaché, guitarist Cal Collins, pianist Nat Pierce, bassist Monty Budwig, and drummer Jake Hanna.
Recommended.
