Singer/songwriter Maren Ord makes her debut on this album, but she might as well be an old-timer for all the buzz her debut generated in recording circles.
Her album is an intriguing collaboration of record labels, including Excel's Highway Records, Capitol Records, and Sony/ATV.
Upon first listen, it's easy to understand why Ord was the hot topic among recording artists.
She has a great pop voice that effortlessly flows from angst to sweetness.
Her songwriting is solid, as are her skills on piano, keyboards, and acoustic guitar.
The lyrics are deep without resorting to profanity or off-color innuendoes.
In fact, "clean" describes the lyrics, which is appropriate considering her strong religious background.
Overall a nice, solid pop album.
