Franklin, Tennessee alt rock trio Colony House's debut album, When I Was Younger, followed three self-released EPs and crystallized the band's bright, optimistic, and pleasantly naive sound.
Kicked off by lead single "Silhouettes," the band runs through 14 tunes that call to mind the best aspects of their contemporaries (Vampire Weekend, the Killers, Cold War Kids, Arcade Fire) as well as some of the same spirit of alternative rock royalty such as U2 or the Talking Heads.
The album relies on musical clarity and the confessional songwriting style of singer/guitarist Caleb Chapman, whose songs often touch on painfully honest moments from his own life.
