The sophomore release from Finland's French Films, 2013's self-produced White Orchid offers more of their punky rhythm section, the Jesus and Mary Chain-like wall of guitars, and reverbed vocals by primary songwriter Johannes Leppänen.
While the lyrics remain largely a mystery, the album straddles rock and pop with noisy, catchy, melodic choruses.
Songs like the driving first single, "Latter Days," the feel-good "Special Shades," and the "ooh, ooh, wee, ooh, ooh" Beach Boys-esque backing vocals of "Juveniles" deliver sweet garage indie pop.
