Composer Henry Jackman's dizzying main theme for director Matthew Vaughn's 2011 reboot of the X-Men franchise is built on a heroic, circular melody that spins throughout X-Men: First Class like a dust devil, growing more and more confident with each new instance.
In a nod to Daft Punk's excellent work on Tron Legacy, Jackman, who worked with Vaughn before on 2010’s everyman superhero spoof Kick Ass, dutifully applies his significant programming and production skills on the punishing "Magneto" theme, and the inclusion of tasteful electric guitars into some of the more orchestral sections brings to mind Hanz Zimmer's Inception score.
